IX- The Hermit - The Hermit sits in a yellow green field of grass, the color of Yod, the Hebrew letter that governs Virgo and The Hermit. The Hermit is in a state of exalted consciousness and contemplates a butterfly (the soul) resting on a flower of eight petals (spirit). The flower and the butterfly are usually associated with The Fool but here it is placed with The Hermit. The shepherd's snake like crook is Kundalini rushing up the spine and flowing out of the top of the head in an arc of white light known as Ganga. The spine of the Hermit and one of the two lunar and solar currents (the ida and the pingali) are shown in white.
