XII- The Hanged Man - This was the first card drawn for The Noble Tarot, for the cards were not meditated in the natural sequence of cards, but rather directed by inspiration from within. The upside down posture of this card was not known at the time of drawing the card, but the crossing of the legs and the tying of the arms behind to form a triangle were worked in. The orange background is Hod, the eighth sephirah which the letter Mem as the Hanged Man touches. The city in the background is also symbolic of Hod as Mercury.
