“Poems”
-- by Joseph C. Dorffner, Sr. - Copyright 2000 --
Poems are but bits and words,
assembled in a line.
Composed to form a verse or two,
deep feelings therein define.
The sentences end in rhyming,
words of sound alike.
Thus they read in chiming tone,
just as “Mike and Ike”.
There appears a heading line,
to give the poem a name.
A line given to the author,
though not to bring him fame.
The words are his and his alone,
copyright it shall be.
Though enjoyed by countless readers,
his feelings there set free.
And when you read it slowly,
as music in a score.
Ye shall grasp the true emotion,
the writer held in store.
