“Ghosts and Devils”
-- by Joseph C. Dorffner, Sr. - Copyright 2001 --
With nightfall comes the shadows,
that cast about an evil spell.
The fear of ghosts and devils,
and the stories we hear-tell.
Stories of headless horsemen,
glowing images in the night.
The eerie sounds that accompany.
that produce an inner fright.
Tales of ages, long gone past,
and some of yesteryear.
Those so farfetched to be true,
ones’ exciting total fear.
Spirits of the tormented dead,
that rise to walk the earth.
Unrest until the end of time.
only then, a new rebirth.
Then comes the morning sunrise,
the shadows now cast away.
The ghosts and devils off to sleep.
‘til the end of another day.
