-- by Joseph C. Dorffner, Sr. - Copyright 2000 --

Was on a Sunday morning,
a Yankee squad on patrol.
Came upon a little church,
sat on a lonely knoll.

the house of the Lord.
hearing the sounds of singers,
that sang not all in chord.

to find unarmed Rebels there.
Led in hymn and gospel,
a preacher with them share.

“Come in and join us brothers,
sing and praise the Lord”.
“Find only joy and salvation,
