As she stalked along the timber line,
snow covered boulders there abound.
One perceived a creature of beauty,
not a mere hungry, hunting hound.
The dark nose upon her long muzzle,
the high, pointed ears and bushy tail.
The sharpness of her piercing eyes,
her swiftness of footing, as not to fail.
Normally she ran with the pack,
the leader had been her mate.
But now the duties of Motherhood,
to her offspring she now relate.
Back along the treacherous hillside,
there deep within her sleeping den.
Three youthful, playful, hungry pups,
awaited her nourishment once again.
Suddenly as if by chance or luck,
a rabbit ran ‘cross her trail.
Nature had provided for her needs,
her offspring pups, another tale.
