~ Blood-chilling Howl ~
Up upon the timber line,
a high rock there to bear.
Stood the leader of a wolf pack,
his fur of dark gray hair.
His silhouette portrayed sharply,
against the full moonlit night.
The howl he issued to the Heavens,
gave a chill of blood-cold fright.
The balance of the wolf pack,
laid quietly in the brush.
None challenging the bravery,
the leaders call in rush.
He was their unopposed leader,
held spellbound in his care.
Many had been his sexual mate,
his offspring there to bear.
Thus the survival of the species,
if they to bond into a group.
For if each to go their own way,
their numbers sure to droop.
