“Angel Wings”
-- by Joseph C. Dorffner, Sr. - Copyright 2000 --

Angel Wings were heard to flutter,
in the stillness of the night.
Their mass numbered in thousands,
as they organized in flight.
The brilliance of their white garments,
set the darkness there aglow.
The shining radiated about each head,
the gleams of polished halo.
Their voices chimed in harmony,
as the bells of Christmas Eve.
Each voice there but a tingle,
though a carillon to achieve.
Their flight out beyond the stars,
where Heaven shores but begin.
Tranquillity born in the hereafter,
eternity free of pain and sin.
All things done in pleasing grace,
to pay homage to the Lord.
Perhaps one day to join them,
if Heaven to be our reward.
