"NORTH WING? SO, SOUTH WING, EAST WING...?"

Yes, yes, you're quite right; I should be busy acquainting you with the layout of this place, seeing as how you're going to be with us for a bit! Silly me.

See, our Headquarters is (are? Hm--my proper grammar escapes me!) in the shape of a cross, roughly. We have a North, South, East, and West Wing. We entered through the main, South Wing, earlier on; you probably noticed our logo and motto on the wall ("Humanitas En Adversitarium"), and that office off to the right--that was Main Headquarters, or Black's office, if you want to get specific. That's where Black and Gold do all their thinking--well--Black does most of the thinking, while Gold does most of the acting. ;D But anyways...

You will find the majority of personal quarters in the East Wing, now. There were also rooms in the North Wing, but since most of that wing is now shut down for safety reasons, we've moved most of the Rats into the East Wing. Not to fear, there's no overcrowding; we just had to move things around and expand a bit. Typically there are two to a room, though occasionally you may find one or three or even four. It all depends who you get stuck with. ;)

The West Wing is where most of the important stuff is located. There, you will find not only the personnel offices, the electronics tunnels where Doomsday does much of his tinkering, and the mess hall, but also the hospital unit, where Burgundy spends most of his time. Come, walk along with me to the end of the hall and I'll show you. Now we're facing west. The offices are on the right; the electronics tunnels are to the left, the mess is beyond them, and there, at the very end, is the hospital. Ah, don't worry, I'll take you there in a bit so you can meet whoever may be there right now. I'm not certain if Burgundy is in or not--he's very busy--but perhaps you'll get to meet him, sooner or later.

Once we do visit the hospital, you'll find that we keep our own men separated from outside patients--such as our allies, refugees, or the enemy, whenever we have one of them among us. (It's happened. Just ask Gold.) Injured/sick Trench Rats are kept to the left, the rest are kept to the right. This goes with our policy of keeping our quarters separate from those of others. All in the name of convenience and necessity.

We have entrances to the surface at the very end of each wing, where guard posts are located. Oh, yes, guard duty. If you were one of us, you'd be placed on that at one time or another. We all work in (at least) two-person shifts of four hours each. So every entrance around here, as well as certain outside locations, are guarded 24 hours a day. To ensure EVERYONE'S safety!

And, oh yes, there are also the stables--they're to the north--and the refugee camp, to the northwest. There's not much to be said about the refugee camp, except that it's very big, Mahogany is in charge of it, and it's where we keep all the prisoners we've liberated until we can move them out of the country and to safety. It doesn't look very inviting--a big building surrounded by wire fencing. Not too much prettier than the places we liberated them from, I'm afraid. But it's the best we have, and a lot better healthwise than a concentration camp could ever be!

Here, while we're nearby, let's take a little walk into the mess hall for a bite to eat. I'll keep answering your questions, I just need to fill up a bit so I can keep up with you! ;)
