SIDEKICKS
| Sidekicks is the third novel in the proposed D Is For Damien series, and takes place in October 1990, a month or so after D Is For Damien. It was originally started around that time, 1990, but to this day remains unfinished and mostly unwritten, though a basic plot has been drawn up (which may be changed drastically at a future time).
All characters in this story, to my knowledge, are of my own creation, though the names "Leslie Laws" and "Scorpio" I took from a newspaper article which gave the supposed "true story" of the cult's willingness to sacrifice her baby on Halloween. As this was in a tabloid, I believe the story to be false; however, I also state this as it's probably protected on their part by copyright law, so I may have to change some details in the future. (Though I most certainly do NOT want to change the name "Scorpio"!) Some of the locations in the story are real, and some are not; the city where it takes place, Cheboygan, is among the former. Aside from the similarities to the newspaper article, the rest of the story is of my own creation, and may not be used by others without permission. I must make one last clarification: In the prologue to the story, Leslie switches through the television channels and overhears snippets of news broadcasts. One of these alludes to "President Bush" while another mentions "terrorist attacks." As this story was started around 1990 or so, these comments are no reference to current events, and are supposed to apply to the time the story took place. Basic synopsis: Scorpio comes back into the picture in a most unpleasant manner when a woman alleges that the cult plans to sacrifice her baby on Halloween. Add to this the fact that she has no idea how the child was conceived--and Damien is in for a strange case. While on the trail he meets up with the police again--some of them friendlier than others--as well as with someone who has a very close tie to Luther Broderick... THIS STORY IS STILL IN ROUGH FORM, TYPOS AND PLOT HOLES INCLUDED. Please point them out, but don't expect me to be surprised. Interesting story tidbits: This novel introduces another member of the Broderick clan; a later (MUCH later) important player in the Scorpio saga shows up; more information is revealed about the old "Scorpio Task Force"; and Derrick Grant's personal relationship with the cult, and with Damien, takes a drastic turn near the end of the story. Yet you'll probably never see any of that happen, since it's unfinished. :) |
