SHADOWS

Shadows is the twenty-second novel in the proposed D Is For Damien series, and takes place around spring 2001. To this day it remains unwritten, though a basic plot has been drawn up (which may be changed drastically at a future time). Like the majority of the D Is For Damien novels, I have no plans to work on it in the near future.

Basic synopsis: Actually the sequel to Blood Secrets, this novel is one of the Minot spinoffs from the main D Is For Damien series, with Damien nowhere in sight. It builds off of the story started in its prequel and goes on from there. Detectives Kristeva and Devetko, still partners, are now investigating more cult-related crimes on the Minot Ritual Crimes Unit--and the strange dreams and memories that Kristeva experienced in the previous novel are growing stronger. His past as an abuse survivor has already been recognized, but now it threatens to disrupt his work, even while spurring him on. His dreams become even stranger and more intrusive as he struggles to keep himself together--literally--until the case is solved. This story is meant to be more "psychological" than the others, including plenty of symbolism.

Interesting story tidbits: Stan Brooks (from Blood Secrets) reappears, now as Devetko's romantic interest; Kristeva's abuse memories clarify even further; a connection is found between himself and the skeleton found beneath the road back in Four P; Kristeva is reunited with his ex-wife, Natalie (actually before the story begins); and a strange "ego state," for which the novel is titled, makes itself known.

At this point in time, this introduction will be the only item onsite. If you find this intriguing, I suggest you browse my other related short stories, or see the three finished related novels. Two other items, "Shadows" Scene and A Crack Of Light, are also available. If you have read the other D Is For Damien-related items, please feel free to send along plot suggestions or ideas. Some of my story ideas are sketchy, so I wouldn't mind assistance. :)
