GEMSONGS
| This is going to be some tanka-style poetry I'm currently working on. I have a lot of other poems written from a few years ago; I consider them doggerel, although they are nice and naturey and they rhyme and everything. ^_^ You can find them on the Golden Compass page.
I decided to write a series of poems based on gemstones, elements, seasons, and perhaps other things that come in interesting "sets"; seeing as I started out with gemstones first, I decided to call these "Gemsongs." ("Elementsongs" and "Seasonsongs" just don't sound as good. Well, maybe "Seasonsongs," but certainly not "Elementsongs.") I wanted them to rhyme but for some reason, recently I have lost my rhyme. :( Yet I needed some kind of structure, so I decided to go with the 5-7-5-7-7 of tanka. I may not be following tanka themes--only the syllable count--but that's the structure I decided to use. Some of these may be good--I like "Ambersong" myself--and most are probably lousy. I'll take a chance and post them anyway. If you enjoy them let me know. This is an ongoing project, whenever I have time. |
