FLASHBACK
| Flashback is the eleventh novel in the proposed D Is For Damien series, and takes place in March 1993 (around the time of Waco, in fact). To this day it remains unfinished and mostly unwritten, though a basic plot has been drawn up (which may be changed drastically at a future time).
All characters in this story, to my knowledge, are of my own creation. I have visited Galveston Island, yet only briefly, so while some of the locations in the story are real, some also are not; the Sandpiper, where the characters stay, is a real motel, but has been changed for the story. If by any chance a reader who knows Galveston much better than I do sees this story, please do not correct me on the details, as this is intended for fictional use only. Aside from this, the story is mainly of my own creation, and may not be used by others without permission. Basic synopsis: Damien and friends travel to Galveston, Texas, on hearing about an alleged cult crime with possible ties to Scorpio. There they meet some very strange characters, including a shady ATF agent, a crazy santero, and an off-kilter police detective. Unfortunately the inmates seem to be running the asylum, and Damien has to rely on some pretty unreliable people to get to the bottom of things. THIS STORY IS STILL IN ROUGH FORM, TYPOS AND PLOT HOLES INCLUDED. Please point them out, but don't expect me to be surprised. Interesting story tidbits: I believe the first hints of Scorpio offshoots/splinter groups are mentioned in this story; this is the first novel in which Damien travels out of state, setting the scene for the later (and IMO better) Minot; Yoopy Irvins and Lucien Constanzo, among other characters, first show up; for a time this was retitled Galveston, because I had forgotten the original title; and can you guess who the "inspiration" for Constanzo's surname was? :) |
