BALANCE

The hawk feels the wind in his wings
As he hunches beneath the wide sky;
His feathers spread out to the air
Support him as he readies to fly.

Columns of air catch his broad strokes
As he pushes off with a shrill cry;
Wide wings kept straight, he glances down--
And he catches the world in his eye.
