  Distinguished Club Plan (D.C.P.) Status
  1 July 2009 - 30 June 2010

The Distinguished Club Program is the measurement system that Toastmasters International and its Clubs use to assess how well a Club is achieving its Mission. It is based on the axiom that "what gets measured (and rewarded) is what gets done".

Membership Requirement

Club 1702 will be starting the new club year with 20 plus members.  Therefore we must maintain a membership of no less that 20 members and our goal is to grow the club to 30 or more members with no less that 25 active members. We have added 11 new members and lost 11 over the year, therefore we are at charter strength.

20 or more club members or 5 new members  = 1 point toward

What's a "CC"?
Every new member of Toastmasters starts the program with the Communication & Leadership Manual. That manual contains 10 assignments - each one building one of the basic skills of making presentations. When a member completes that manual, s/he earns the "CTM" or Competent Toastmaster designation.

What's an "ATB"?
Once the CC & CLs Manuals is completed, each member selects two of the Advanced Manuals from the 15 available! Each of these manuals contains 5 speaking assignments, all related to building specific skills in that "type" of speaking.

When a member completes two of those manuals, s/he earns the AT-Bronze - Advanced Toastmaster - Bronze - recognition. When s/he completes two more and also presents two modules from the Successful Club or Better Speaker Series, s/he earns AT-Silver ... two more manuals + 2 more modules AND coaches a new member through the first 3 speeches, s/he earns AT-Gold.

What's a "CL"?
The Toastmasters program has two tracks. The CTM and ATM levels above are all related to Track #1: Communication. The CL is the first level in Track #2: Leadership.

To earn the CL - Competent Leader - designation, a member must have earned the CC Award, complete the requirement in the Competent Leader Manual.

What's an "AL"?
You've figured it out ... right? Yes! It is the Advanced Leader designation. To earn this designation, a Toastmaster must have earned the CL Award, and must also: serve as a District Officer; complete the High Performance Leadership Program (a self-paced hands-on program which develops Project Management skills); and serve successfully as a Sponsor or Mentor for a new Club, or Specialist for a Club that needs to rebuild membership.

What's a "DTM"?
When a member has completed the Communication track and earned the ATM-Gold ... AND has completed the Leadership track and earned the AL ... s/he is awarded DTM - Distinguished Toastmaster - recognition.

A total of EIGHT New Members? That seems like a lot!
Yes, it is a lot! But in order to maintain high energy, dynamics and excitement, every Toastmasters Club needs an ongoing intake of new Members. In fact, our goal is one New Member per month ... or 12 over the period of a year.

What's the deal with 4 Officers being trained x 2?
There are 7 Club Officers in a Toastmasters Club: President, VP Education, VP Membership, VP Public Relations, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant at Arms. Training is provided for these officers twice during the year ... once just prior to the beginning of their term of office, and once half-way through that term. In order to qualify for Distinguished Club Program credit, at least four Club Officers must attend that training during each of the two training periods.

Reports on Time?
It's true. Like every organization. Toastmasters International has paperwork, and this DCP goal is about getting it done! It is a two-part goal.

The first part is about our Club's semiannual report of members and corresponding dues payment. This happens (you guessed it!) twice during the year. At least ONE of those submissions must be received at World Headquarters by its deadline.

The second part is about reporting to World Headquarters about our Club's meeting details (where and when) and the names and addresses of our Club's Officers. Again, this report must be submitted by its deadline.
