Green And Vikings Agree On Buyout
Friday, January 4, 2002

The Minnesota Vikings and Dennis Green have agreed on a buyout of his contract.  Assistant head coach/offensive line coach Mike Tice will coach the team on Monday night in Baltimore.

In his 10 seasons as the head coach of the Vikings, Green guided the Vikings to a 97-62 (.610) regular season record.  He led the Vikings to the playoffs in eight of his 10 seasons, including NFC Central Division titles in '92, '94, '98, and '00.  The Vikings advanced to the NFC Championship Game in 1998 and 2000.

The Vikings have struggled in 2001 with a 5-10 record, including an 0-7 record on the road.  It was Green's first season under .500 in his career with Minnesota.
Vikings remove "interim" from Tice's title
Friday, January 11, 2002

Mike Tice, who replaced Dennis Green as Vikings head coach for Minnesota's regular-season finale, gets the job permanently today. Tice, 42, is popular among many Vikings. "He's a guy everyone respects," TE Byron Chamberlain said.
