| Hi everyone! Here we will introduce our Labs and link to our site. | |||||
Black Hawk Rebel ![]() Black Hawk Rebel is the last remaining puppy of Tira's first litter 6 months ago. Where we currently live, there is more of a demand for Beagles as hunting dogs. More people hunt deer and rabbits than fowl. This is one of the many reasons we are moving back to S.C. (family, friends, Lab afficienados). Rebel was set to go to a new home when he was 8 weeks old. His new owners put a deposit on him after we lowered the price to meet their income needs (plus they were acquaintances). After reading the contract about keeping in touch, sending pictures periodically, etc. they backed out of the deal. Rebel is now slated to go to a friend of the family that is married with 2 kids and is living in N.C. Their yellow Lab passed away a few years ago and now that they've got a house of their own they are ready for another one. We've agreed to keep Rebel with us as long as necessary until they are settled in and can come get him or until we move to S.C. in a year and a half. Until then we will be sending pictures and giving them regular updates on him. Rebel is, of course, carrying on Tira's great pedigree. If his new owners decide to, he will make a great stud with an exemplary pedigree. Personally I would like to get a female from the RushCreek Kennel in S.C. and breed him to her. This would continue on the pedigree from both sides (see RushCreeks link from our website for more info). Since Tira is decended from Rush Creek lines, Rebel would have RushCreek as well. Bring in another RushCreek female with another great pedigree and you end up with some very, very good hunting/field pups.
Rebels birth - He was the first of a litter of 3 that was born 3/27/07 just before midnight. He weighed 1.5 lbs, his sister weighed 1.2 lbs. I said there were three, and their were. The third was delivered by c-section, was underdeveloped, much smaller than his siblings and...didn't make it. He couldn't breath on his own. He was brought home and buried and will be forever remembered as "Almost a Miracle". RIP The vet had said he could see 2, maybe 3, on the x-ray so after the second pup came out, and Tira quit pushing, we thought she was done. Upon arriving at the vets office for a checkup the next day we found out there was a third pup. He came out alive, was given oxygen therapy...but, you know the rest.
