As ultrasound became widespread, and though a legal ban in India, it was estimated that at least 10 million female births may have been aborted in the past 20 years. The study, has highlighted the severity of the discrimination against the girl children and claims that nearly 500,000 female babies are lost in India every year because of selective abortion.
