APT = rude. + afrokinetic : September 2, 2006
on the aug 22 i went to one of my favorite parties in the city. rude.
they play a style of music called broken beat soul. a mix of upbeat jazz, house, some ethnic stuff -- all with syncopated beats - hence 'broken beat'. anyhow, check out the rude website to get a better feel. i went specifically to see this japanese cat named toshio matsuura. he was a founding member of this group called the United Future Organization --- global jazz electronica loveliness. trust me. anyhow, my boy, dustin, is the official photographer for the rude parties. you can also check out his site to his more of his camera work. rude usually occurs at this place called APT. without a doubt the best lounge in NYC, as far as i'm concerned. Dan, Afia and I also went there for a party this past thursday called afrokinetic - tribal infused dance music - incredible!
