last night dan & i went to soul position (rjd2 + blueprint) at southpaw. hip hop is alive. like real hip hop -- intelligent cats saying something, but not taking themselves too seriously. the set started with the crowd singing for rjd2's birthday... and though rj's beats are what make the group stand-out, he relinquished control of the backdrop for a couple of songs by lacing us with dope 80s instrumentals, which al spit flawlessly over. their track entitled "back up off my minutes" was introduced by rj's alter-ego "mo-buttons". he rocked the MPC for the beat, and wore the most ridiculous outfit i've seen in years.
running into my buddies A-bo and lobster girl made the night officially awesome.
