Freedom of Speech?
I was awoken yesterday, as I am nearly every work day, to the sounds of a local radio station. However, during the intervals I heard comments about an American Hero Jim Broussard and his encounter with an illegally displayed Mexican Flag. So being curious I went to the Yoo Tube referenced and found this Yoo Tube video of Jim cutting the American Flag away from this abuse and this link to an interview on Fox news. Make of this what you will. However, as a retirend military verteran I think I have earned the right to make the comment that while I support Freedom of Speech (which some liberal pundits, lawyers and IDIOTs claim this to be) I also believe that this is an attach upon our national soverignty. And I most heartly support Jim and his actions. I just hope that offered the same opportunity I could act as unselfishly. See the probelm is that while the courts have upheld our constitutional freedomes they have, in my opinion, stepped outside reality in their conceptualization of what is and is NOT the Freedom of Speech. It has gotten to the point where any speech that puts down the government, the military and conservative values in general has become sanctified while the actions of persons to support those efforts has become villanous. The example of this is in the reviews of Jim's actions where he is titled a "BIGOT" for enforcing a governmental "policy about display of the flag". No - HE DEFENDED OUR COUNTRY's FOUNDATION and PRINCIPLES. PATRIOTISM and Defense of the nation is not a part time endeavor. It must take place by everyone and at every moment. If you are not willing to take up arms or to take firm positive action in support of this country then you are not a patriot. PERIOD. 2007-10-06 18:28:52 GMT
