Today: Tour de France, Stage Six! I always get excited when a new Tour starts, but I must admit that this year I have only been able to watch a few minutes of a couple of stages. I keep falling asleep! That's not an insult to the Tour, just a simple fact of life for me as I do not watch it until the Captain is asleep in her bed. Above: My time trial (TT) bike. I can't (or at least shouldn't) ride it right now - the air quality rating where I live in California is abysmal. Cycling right now is as dangerous as smoking cigarettes. California is a prime example of what happens when environmentalists run amok. For years, wild fires were stamped out as quickly as possible and the undergrowth was allowed to accumulate. It would've been far more environmentally friendly to "mine" the undergrowth and send the resulting material to a power generation facility. Don't stand in the way of Mother Nature, even if your intentions are pure (as I'm sure the self-anointed environmentalists believe), for you will get knocked onto you a**.
