I survived the horrible dust storm that occurred in eastern Kern County last Tuesday (2007.10.16)!  You just KNOW that an area gets frequent bad winds when, instead of blowing sand, the wind is blowing pebbles (the sand having been lost long before)!  I was even on HWY 14 at 1:30 pm, when the big pile-up occurred.  I heard the screeching of brakes and a couple of crunches - but didn't see it (visibility was down to 100 feet, maximum).  I took quite a few pictures, so (if I remember) I'll post one.  I had flashbacks to my experiences with fog and crunching vehicles in 2002...

The Captain took a full 18 steps (without help) yesterday (2007.10.18)!
