Random thoughts from 20th Century Fox Mexico Theatrical's Marketing Director.
Entry for September 27, 2007

So, yesterday I told you about a post I was preparing that got lost. That one was about something that occurred to me because of a new film we are going to release next year: the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still with Keanu Reeves. If you've seen the classic 1950's version you know it's about an alien that comes to Earth to warn us about our misguided ways. If we continue on our destructive path and our technology reaches a certain point where we become a threat to other planets, giant robots with laser beam eyes will come to obliterate our planet completely.

Well, moralistic story aside, what I was actually thinking is that we are expecting aliens to come down to Earth with revolutionary thechnology and share it with us. But considering the Universe was supposed to have been created in one single burst of energy, and supposing life-supporting planets were more or less created at the same time... what if we are on top of the intergalactic class? What if other civilizations are actually waiting for us to get off our lazy asses and bring our technology to them?

It's kind of easy to expect someone else to do things for us, and a bit reassuring to expect others to help us take the lead, but I think this is a generalized attitude that has to change in our everyday life: let's not wait for others to do things for us. Usually things happen when we set them in motion.

Food for thought, hey? Have a great Thursday.
