For those of you who have missed enrollment in my Personal Financial Management course, here are the core concepts, no tuition donation required.

  1. Write down your goals. Especially your financial ones.
  2. Seek employment from those who believe that hiring the right person is their most important job.
  3. Know what you own, and know what you owe.
  4. Know what you make, and know what you spend.
  5. Your biggest expense is the tax you pay.
  6. Put your spare money to work.
  7. Don't borrow except to purchase that which appreciates in value.
  8. Keep your credit card balance at zero.
  9. Spend your money wisely.
  10. Don't buy a house if you don't want to mow a lawn.
  11. Lease a car if your like to burn hundred dollar bills.
  12. If you really like to gamble, buy an extended warranty.
  13. Always (every minute) have health insurance.
  14. Buy indexed mutual funds.
  15. Pay your debts off, including your home mortgage.
