CZECHOSLOVAK BRIGADE
LIST OF THOSE EXPELLED FROM THE CZECHOSLOVAK FORCES
CHOLMONDELEY CAMP
27th JULY 1940
Alphabetical Listing
General Information Information for this list came from the orders of the "Náhradní těleso čs. vojska" (Depot of the Czechoslovak Forces) in Great Britain, specifically the "Kmenový rozkaz č.1, 1.srpna 1940, čl.8" (Basic order No.1, 1st August 1940, Item 8). Item 8 itself (consisting of the list of those expelled) is headed by the following paragraph: "čl.8: Zbavení hodnosti -
vyloučení z čs.armády. Which roughly translates as follows: "Item 8: Relieving of rank -
expulsion from the Czechoslovak Army. There are a total of 539 names on the list. By including persons on the list I am making no statements or judgements about why these persons were included. I am only reproducing the list as presented in the army orders. Ranks The abbreviations used for ranks in the Czechoslovak Army which occur in the list, along with their full name and the approximate British equivalent, are shown below: voj. - vojín (private) As in the original list, there are no hard rules to standardise variations in spelling. There are also no rules for the use of special accented characters. Sorting This list has been constructed from a database report sorted on the basis of the Czech alphabet, first by Last Name, then by First Name. Although presented correctly, any German accented characters seem to be regarded as exactly the same as un-accented versions for sorting purposes. Searching Web browsers have the facility to search the page currently being viewed for specified text. Using this facility you may search the whole text of the page for the name required. To locate this facility try opening the "Edit" menu usually shown at the top of the browser window and select the "Find (on This Page)" option. Please be aware that this facility searches for the PRECISE text that you enter. It will therefore not find entries with unexpected spellings of that surname or a discrepancy between accented and un-accented characters. Where necessary and practical I suggest searching using the parts of the surname which avoid these areas, allowing identification without risking these possible confusions. If performing multiple searches using this facility, please note that the search will take place in the direction specified (up or down) from the position already reached in the text by previous searches, or from the position of text that may have been selected (highlighted) by you manually. To ensure a complete search of the page select (highlight) some text at the top of the page before the start of the list and search downwards. Disclaimer Although I have tried to make sure that the information in this list is correct and complete, I accept no responsibility for any errors or omissions that may have occurred, and no liability for any costs that anyone may choose to incur based on this information.
