CHERYL KERNOT
2002-07-19 Cheryl Kernot an ex powerful and disgraceful woman politician has written the book about her political life, and also she revealed some parts of her personal life. She was a powerful politician as the leader of the Australian Democrat Party with very big influence in a parliamentary and government system. But she was disgracing herself, because as a leader of the third biggest party in Australia she gave up leadership and left Democrats for Labor Party in 1997, betraying all the members of Democrat Party. Her book is not so impressive, because if you thought that book gave you some good explanations about her failure in politics; you’ll be very disappointed. In it are too many clues and not enough answered questions. Mostly there are her feelings and emotions from her point of view. But that is not what I was looking for. I was expecting more verified trues about parliamentary life, more about dirty tricks, which politicians like to use or still are using and abusing their position. Did we get this from Cheryl? Certainly did not. Firstly she left political arena not long ago and that was
not enough time for her get trough so quickly with terms of her
good and bad time in her political career. Every one needs time to
understand their own past from maturer perspective and that’s why we need
time for proper scrutinizing our action and behaviour from the past.
Everyone has to learn from own mistakes. Did Cheryl do that? No. Did we
can learn something about political life from her point of view? I
don’t think so, or I should say that better be quiet, because “silence
is golden”. Did her book show or explain more professionally about
what is wrong with our parliamentary system, politicians
behaviour and standards or what we could improve? For sure it’s
nothing. As an ex politician she should think twice before she
says something or reveal about her personal life of other people. She
should know better that most people naturally jump very quickly to the
point talking only about her silly private affair with Gareth Evans. I’m not surprised, because everyone knows that her
announcement was inappropriate. But why has she done such a thing?
Has she been concerned what a damage she can do to other people? Has
she spoken about this matter with Gareth; before she decided
publishing such private moment of her and his life? I’m very disappointed with her attitude about that
matter, because everyone remembers very well how she was against
journalists who tried pull out anything from private life of
politicians. Now she explained that she and her former lover are not any more
involved in the public life, why she wrote about this affair.
That is so appalling and stupid suggesting, that because now she and Gareth
are ordinary citizens, she can say anything what she likes and
destroying other peoples reputation. What kind of thinking is that? Are
politicians’ different species than average citizens? I don’t think so. Mrs Cheryl Kernot now avoiding media, screaming around “leave my private life alone,” that’s funny, but maybe
that is the best thing to do by her. If you still have some
regards for her or you are interested in what women politicians have to
say, please read the book, but if you don’t. Don’t bother. Don’t waste your money and time. Back to home page |
