IVF TREATMENT2002-04-28 Australia prides itself on being one of the most
democratic countries in the world, strongly opposed to every form of
discrimination. Lately however the Federal Government has shown a very dark
side of discrimination against women. It’s not good when the
Prime Minister John Howard forgets about the rights of individual
citizens. The Government has no right to decide who can have
children and who can’t. We live in a very advanced environment of XXI century,
where in order to have a child we not longer need a man and a woman
with a natural desire for sex. Scientists have created IVF (in vitro
fertilisation) - a fantastic opportunity for people who never before
could have kids. Of course the scientists didn’t know that, apart from married
or de facto couple also single women would benefit from that
opportunity. That was a big shock to some family men, including our
Prime Minister. Isn’t funny that nobody uses the term “family woman”? On
other hand what is the meaning of “a family man”? IVF treatment is not about discrimination but about
choice and opportunity to have a child when our physical, medical and psychological circumstances are not working
properly, or not at all. Because of that situation some single women decide to
have kids without sex and a father but why not? How many women in these days
are raising their kids by themselves? How many Australian single women
give birth without a father? How many women live their lives without a male
companion? We are not talking about a small proportion of women. I
know that some men, especially “pseudo family men” don’t like the
idea of women having kids without a man. Those men think only about
their manhood not about children and their mothers. Now the Prime
Minister John Howard has jumped to conclusion that all children have a right
to have a father. Isn’t a laugh? Maybe the Prime Minister can explain to
the people of Australia what kind of opportunity was given to the
Pakistani kids, whose father killed himself in front of the Parliament
House, because his children were not allowed to join him in Australia.
Tell us Prime Minister is that your policy of children rights? How
many kids were abused physically and sexually by theirs fathers? Tell us what kind
of opportunity did they have to have a father. What about rape victims.
What do you think that they enjoy men and sex like other people? Do they
have rights to have a family without a father or not? I can tell you Mr Howard I was raised by a single woman
and I wouldn’t be here now, if she couldn’t look after me. Now I am a happily married man with two kids like you
Prime Minister. You have to know that women have the right to
decide when and with whom they
want to have kids. Only a loving environment matter not a father or a mother. Of course the best option is for children to have both
parents living and sharing life together. But life is brutal for
some families and nobody has a right discriminate against
them because of their marital status. Love, support and understanding
are the only important things in a family environment. All politicians have to
remember that they have no right to discriminate against people who prefer
or their circumstances drove them to different life style, which is unlike the
one religious schoolers wish for. The dark and discriminating ages gone forever
and I’m sorry but nobody, dear Prime Minister, wants to go back to that. Back to home page |
