CALLOUSNESS2002-01-23 When I see people suffering around the world I am very
sorry for them. Because that is far, far away from us and we can’t do
much about it. But when I hear that something terrible happened in my
homeland I start to worry. What is going on? Why are human beings
suffering in my country? Why does that happen? Why is the
government and we are not doing enough to prevent that? Now we have a
very bad situation in Woomera Detention Centre and because of
that I’m not only sorry but also very upset and sad. We have to look
to that situation with open mind and stop only criticize that poor
detainees for what’s happened there. We have to go to the bottom of that and
ask ourselves why these people so desperate for hurting themselves?
What exactly government should do in those circumstances? I don’t
think that they should make scary campaign against migrants. I don’t
understand why politicians don’t want to find out what’s going on
in Woomera Detention Centre. Maybe after that they could do something
about it. Mr Howard’s Government in that area doesn’t have any
good solution. Current government doesn’t have any good policy in a
field of migration. I can say that John Howard totally failed in that area.
If he wants to do something about it he has to change his resist nature. I
remember very well that Pauline Hanson wanted exactly migration policy
what we have now and Liberal Party was the first group, which
criticized One Nation for that, saying that they are resist. Now tell us Mr
Howard: did you lie to us before? What are exactly you looking for Mr
Howard? Perhaps you are looking forward to building concentration camps
in Australia. I hope that Liberal Party stop creating hatred and
divisive policies. We have to remember that most of illegal migrants
haven’t had normal and decent life for so long and they still don’t have. Their children suffering without any childhood, sitting
behind the barbed wire like in a concentration camp. Keeping innocent kids
like that is not acceptable. They are not guilty that their parents
brought them to Australia because they wanted to find better place to
grow up for them. That is very sad that our Prime Minister who likes
calling himself a family man doesn’t do enough to improve that situation. Tell us
Mr Howard why are you destroying innocent children lives? I don’t know
why you behave like that. I don’t know how to explain to my little kids
that in our country innocent children are kept in camps. I hope that one
day, we will see politicians with real hearts, honest and compassion
about human lives. On other hand I’m very happy that I’m living in
Australia because Australian citizens have enough compassion for helping
people with needs, doesn’t matter here or abroad. We are lucky that Mr
Howard didn’t destroy yet our feelings. Maybe Government and all politicians
should take the best example from good Australian Samaritans, who are always
ready to give hand to anyone who needs that. I’m very disappointed and
sorry of our government ignorance and selfishness but I’m very happy
that we still can count on ordinary Australian people with beautiful
understanding nature. That is what keeps me going with my live because
I know that always there is someone for my family and me if we’ll
