ELECTION2001-09-25 Australia face Federal Election not to long. Election is the most exiting time for politicians. Not for ordinary people. That is time when politicians fight for their political existence. What we should do? How we should vote? So many questions come up during election. Simply our job is to choose but whom. Can we trust politicians from left and right? History is showing how both sides of politics are dishonest and greedy. They not listening and represent communities, which elected them. They mostly represent party line, which they come from. In that moment we don’t have in parliament enough balance, which could give us (citizens) more protection and rights. Democrats failed in a field of balance in a parliament. Why we need more independent people there.But many politicians start talking about how damaging will be for our nation if we choose more independents. They are doing that only because they want to protect own backsides. Politicians know very well that they can loose their power. They after that have to come closer to people, to citizens and communities. They don’t like that and afraid of that. The funny thing is, that in current situation in Australian politics we don’t have so much choice. Labor, Liberal, National, Green, Democrats, One Nation and few smaller parties (we don’t know them at all). Simply we have only two mega parties: Labor and Coalition (Liberal and National). They are in a power so long that they have forgotten what for they are, what kind of job should they do and whom they are working for. What kind of commitment they have with people?Do we have proper balance in a parliament? Plenty people think that Democrats are keeping that balance but they are wrong. Personally I’m very disappointed about them. All small parties and independents shouldn’t focus on one particular goal which
interests them. They have to look at on every aspect of our live. Because they represent all
citizens, whether they have voted for them or not. In that moment we are living
in a dangerous environment. Not only politicly but economically and
socially. Why we should remember that we shouldn’t choose any
party. Vote for people, not for party. They have to represent us
in a parliament not them selves or parties. Other very important thing
to remember is that migration and fight with terrorism are not only
subjects what we should look for. Health, education, welfare, retirement,
superannuation, protection and our rights are important too because we
have to live with that. When election campaign starts, don’t forget ask
politicians difficult questions and look for answers. For example: -
Why they have more protection then others? -
Why their entitlements are secure more than others? -
Why we have to pay for getting to work, they not? -
Why we don’t get free mobile phones and telephone cards? -
Why they are getting more Superannuation than we? -
Why we can elect them but we can’t sack them? -
Why…? More and more questions you can find. Don’t be afraid asking all candidates for parliament.
After that give the best shot and choose one who suits you. That is your
