GLOBALISATION2001-09-20 Globalisation is the most stupid idea developed in politician’s heads since Aristotle’s era. Why? Because that’s utopia, unworkable task to achieve. What do we mean, when we talk about globalisation? Globalisation something what is open, accessible and approachable for everyone within group or organization around the world. We are talking here about political, economical, social and culture changes on our globe. Are we ready for that? I don’t think so. Secondly, what we should do first. Politicians with the biggest businesses on their back have decided make globalisation from economical point of view with a little shadow of social changes. Can we talk about free economy (not only free trade) without political (democratic) changes? I think that is absolutely absurd. Some people think that United Nations was the first step to globalisation but what we see in current situation that UN is more political body without citizens, which makes international law. UN has nothing to do with people, only with governments.
United Nations is simply the biggest undemocratic organization
on the world, which can’t simply do anything about that issue in that
moment. Supporters of globalisation say that it has promoted information exchange, led to a greater understanding of other cultures and allowed democracy to triumph over autocracy. But that is only their dream because reality of life is much more complicated and different. In current situation globalisation lead to only two subjects: free migration and trade. That kind of global freedom doesn’t bring stability around the world. Sometimes that make situation worse. Even the developed countries acknowledged, that not everyone has been or will be the winner. The freedom granted by globalisation is leading to increase insecurity in the workplace. The fact is that the huge trans-national companies are becoming more powerful and influential than democratically elected governments, putting profit above interest of communities and customers. The commercial business world is not an engine of really free enterprise. Politicians should start to rethink their position in which way globalisation going. All people and countries should have equal benefit and opportunity from globalisation not only the richest developed world. Back to home page |
