GOODWILL GAMES

It’s the biggest sport event since Olympic 2000 in Sydney. It was here

in Brisbane, Australia. I don’t know why here, why not in a different

country. We have had the Olympic not so long ago. Maybe that doesn’t

matter. What’s matter that the most wonderful idea of putting together

sport people and fans still exists. The idea of Goodwill Games originated

in1986 independently from politics. Offcourse that’s not 100% true but

we know very well how politics is involved in Olympics. In that moment

I’m so surprised of the attention of media about future Goodwill Games.

What they are talking about? What’s wrong with this sport event?

It’s nothing wrong but if we are talking about monies, yes. Always monies.

Because we are living in a commercial and money environment.

Social and sport things are on further backgrounds of our life.

You can see that all sport events these days are about money.

That’s not good but real truth. It’s very interesting that business people

want to make money in that occasion but what about all volunteers.

Why the volunteers not talking about money? Why they are giving their

time and afford for free and they not whinge. Why that fantastic people

are not thinking about profit. Only greedy businesses think of

profiteering. Some people are saying that not many people watching

Goodwill Games than what for doing that. I have one question to them.

How many people exactly should watch any sport event for doing that?

I don’t know. Hundreds, thousands or maybe more people. I think that

we should look at this as fantastic opportunity to meet all people from

different country and backgrounds together. Those athletes competing

with each other for pleasure and enjoyment of all sport’s fans. It’s there

something for every one. You like swimming – watch swimming.

You like different event – watch something else. But if you don’t like sport,

stop whinging, do and watch what you like. Goodwill Games was created for uniting people around the world under the flag of sport. I hope that spirit of Goodwill Games won’t die after Brisbane and that we will enjoy this event again in the future.
