GOODS AND SERVICES TAX

GST is clever tax but hasn’t been introduced by so smart and clever people.

Maybe the government has had good intention but failed. You have to be

very intelligent to make simple tax a nightmare of any economical,

social or political activity. I don’t know what the government thought

when they were working on GST. They have promised very simple tax

and they have never delivered that. And the government still don’t know

how improve that tax. Their ideas about wonderful tax, tax which should

take us to the new century of economic and social prosperity, is simply

in a dream. Is now question, can we improve or change GST?

Yes, we can. Firstly, that tax should be on all goods and services.

Why GST should be including all goods and services? That way everyone

is participating equally in paying tax for any purchase of goods and services.

Secondly some parts of business and charity should be excluding from

GST tax. All kind of charity should be free of that tax. Which business

shouldn’t pay GST or profit tax? We are talking here only about a

small business in which is very easy to avoid paying tax. Government

should change the rules for them and change their profit tax and GST

on simple one payment per year – lump sum tax. 

GST was introduced without proper consultation with citizens.

That was the worst thing about that system because the government

has ignored people in the process of consultation.  GST is a baby of

Mr John Howard and like the most children they come along without

any consideration of social and economical costs. Now we have to pay

for that. How long will we be waiting for a better tax system only God’s

know, because now on both sides of politics is not any vision about this.

I hope that the future will give us new politicians with better ideas than

we are having now. Government have to learn that their job is

managing economy with the best ability what they have. That’s means

that they have to find the best tax system and stop thinking that GST is

the number one, because it’s not.
