DEMOCRACY

Are we leaving in democratic society? We think that we are, but where is the true.

First we have to ask ourselves what exactly meaning “democracy”.

Democracy – the idea that everyone in a country has equal rights.

Fine, beautiful explanation, but weather we really have equal opportunity

and choices. I don’t know. Who knows? Where we should start? Voting,

that is very interesting subject. In Australia we have compulsory voting system.

You don’t go. You’ll be punished. Now that is dilemma. What is meaning of that?

What kind of similarity has democracy and compulsory? Absolutely nothing.

Democracy is your choice, it’s your rights to have choice. Compulsory

don’t give you option, you have to do it. Than why don’t politicians in

Australia do anything about it? Why they are saying that we are leaving in

democratic country if the most valuable think like rights to vote or not in

democratic system is compulsory. When something should be compulsory?

When we use that only for protecting people, where citizens can be hurt.

Only for protection we can accept compulsory system in our life. Voting

don’t hurt people, why shouldn’t be voluntary. That is first step to democracy

and only if Australia achieves that goal, we can say that democracy going in

a good direction. Why citizens should push more politicians for their rights.

Parliament should be a reflection of our thinking – not politicians. They are

representing us not themselves. In current situation we have not enough

protection for our rights to control politicians or making them more accountable.

They do what they want and that is not okay. In that moment we can see

that Parliament and Government make our life more difficult. They push

us under poverty, danger and instability. Why we should say enough to

politician’s tyranny and push for more democratic changes. Changes

which give us more rights and more responsibility for our nation, for our life

and for our future.
