AFFIRMATIONAn affirmation is a statement designed to have a positive effect on the conscious mind when repeated at frequent intervals throughout meditation and ritual spells.
ALCHEMYAlchemy is the medical chemical science designed to purify and perfect the performance of chemical experiments and magickal rituals.
ALTAR In witchcraft an altar is a flat surface designed to hold ritual tools and symbols throughout the course of a spell being cast.
AMULET A magickally charged object, often used to deflect negative energy. Offering the wearer with a sense of protection. (See Tailsmen)
ASPECTING Any advanced magic activity where the practioner manifests a particular aspect of a goddess or god (whether in speach, appearance, behaviour or thought) is known as aspecting.
ASPERGE or ASPERGING To ceremonially cleanse the area by sprinkling with purified or herbed water during or preceding rituals. ( see Asperger)
ASPERGER An Asperger is a perforated object used to sprinkle water during or preceding Ritual, for purification purposes. It can also be a bundle of fresh herbs, or simply use your fingers to sprinkle the water
ASTRAGALOMANCY A term derived from the Greek astragalos (dice or knucklebone) and manteia (divination) and applied to a method of telling the future from the throwing of dice or bones.
ATHAMEA ritual knife, usually a double edged blade with a black handle. The Athame is used to direct Personal Power during Ritual workings. It is seldom ( if ever) used for actually physical cutting.
AURA The energy field existing around all living things.
BANE That which is destroys life, which is poisonous, dangerous or destructive.
BALE FIRE A ritual bonfire, traditionally lit on Beltane.
BELTANEThe celtic festival celebrated on the 1st of May, to celebrate the arrival of summer, from Old Gaelic words meaning the blaze-kindling. In Druidic times, two fires were lit, and the tribes cattle driven between them, in a purificatory rite. In later times, young men would leap over the fires in tests or displays of energy and virility. In modern times it is celebrated the cymbolic union, mating and marriage of the Goddess and God, and links in with the celebration of Life and Sexuality.

BINDINGTo bind a spell, the spellcaster chants a verse upon completion, announcing the end of the ritual and asking for the spell to begin its magic.
BOLLINEa white handled knife, used for practical purposes sush as cutting herbs or piercing a pomegranate.
BOOK OF SHADOWS A book used to record Magickal spells, rituals and lore in. And often used to record all information of interest to the owner.
