Final Fantasy VI

A dark snowy night, two soldiers head on their way to the small mining town of Narshe. By their side is a mysterious girl with strange powers, captured by the Empire to be used as a weapon. Traveling in Magitek armor the soldiers storm the town in search of a creature of great power, known only as an Esper. Charging through the townspeople along their way, they wind up in the caves, finding the creature they seek. As they approach, the girl has a strange reaction with the Esper, as the other two dissapear.

Upon waking, the girl can remember nothing of her past but her name. Joining the Returners, she sets out on a journy to find out who she is and why the Empire wanted to use her. Great adventure and mystery are presented in the 6th installment of this world renowned series. The use of magic is wonderful. Espers join your party to teach you their valuable skills. Summoning them as well to create mass amounts of special effects.

This is one of 3 games that really turned me on to gaming and RPG's. Just the way the characters develop. The fact that there is not 1 centeral main character was a great addition. The battles are wonderful, in that you can either get them done quickly or strategize. The magic learning system is great! All the characters can learn ALL the magic. Yes it kind of does eliminate a bit of individuality, but you dont have one characters that vastley out power others.

This is a DEFINATE buy if you can find it. Either for the SNES under the name of Final Fantasy III, or the Playstation under Final Fantasy VI (in the Final Fantasy Anthology collection). The story and gameplay will real you in. The plot twist are many and dramatic. Where else does the bad guy actually, kill the Emporer, gain unlimited magical power and destroy the world all in about 5 minutes. I cannot tell you how much this game has changed the gaming industry. Music by the well known Nobuo Uematsu is always being listend to and remixed. Once again I say it is a worthwile pick up, but dont take my word for it. Try it yourself and you'll see what I mean.
