Week One
Our first day we arrived in San Jose National Airport where we went to the Hotel Cacts to meet up with the rest of the sustainable futures group.  We took a photo from the rooftop looking out over the capital city (photo is on right hand side).  After two nights in San Jose we went to Arbofilia, near the Tarcoles River (photos on left).  We stayed two nights there and slept out in the open.  It was good in a way to be broken into all the bugs, they don't bother us all as much.  We swam in a nice natural pool, hiked and learned to use machettis.  We also stopped at the beach at Puntarenas where is was uncomfortably hot.  The beach looks good in the photos, but no one's on it because it smells terrible.  Good thing photos don't come with a smell, huh?  Our last stop before arriving in Monteverde was to stay at the Bellbird Conservation Center where they had a view of Puntarenas and the Gulfo de Nicoya without the smell.  (photos at top).
