A mixed bag of pictures that I took that don't really fit other places
I removed a failing hydrangea from this corner and planted a new one, along with a bunch of other plants, dianthus, houseleeks, viola, lily of the valley, sweet violets, winter savory, several different thymes, saxifrage, crocuses and species jonquils. The paving stones are actually chunks of concrete. I discovered them in 1999 when I tried to plant some bulbs in the lawn and found all these rocks instead. They are now interplanted with lots of different thymes.
The front gate. The roses came with the house, and I added violas, allyssum, artemisia "Silver Mound" and bulbs under them.
On the 8th of April 2000 we had one last snowstorm. The small shrub is a magnolia, and the tree to the right is a flowering purple plum. A few weeks later, the magnolia and plum were in bloom.
I call this "Violet Alley". The violets are extremely sweet when
they are in flower. They came with the house and pop up in various
spots in the lawn. There are a few white ones and a few that are
scentless that bloom later in the spring.
More of that same snowstorm. The maple trees had been in flower, no less!

This is the bed surrounding the Artistry rose. Lavender, primula, violets and muscari.

I got this birdbath on sale.
I just love it!
