The White Trash and Asian relationship is at the breaking point. You�re probably asking yourself, �What do you mean relationship between the White Trash and the Asians?� Well I�ll tell you all about it.
We as Asians aren�t exactly seen in the white trash community as part of the gang. Some times they�ll be friendly (sometimes even be referred to as the sweet little oriental fellow) and some times they�ll get down right nasty (i.e.: being called the oriental cashier who shortchanged them.) Either way the relationship bounces from good to bad depending on the pop culture and political surrounding of the US. For example if we were in W.W.II, no doubt the white trash community (I really should say children of the land to be more PC�I think I will from now on.) will vent hostility toward Japanese (or any other Asian sect) and cart us off into some concentration camp.
Now I�m not saying that it will lead into interment camps, but in the course of this spring and summer, the relationship between the COTL (children of the land or white trash) and the Asians has become very strained. Take for example the situation in China. Sure it may look simple enough for the average reader of any periodical, but to the COTL it�s a catalyst for hatred. They will see nothing but �A bunch of yeller folk taking our boys in uniform hostage.�
I don�t think they feel ill will toward the Asian community. They�re just more manipulated by television and other people�s worldview. Take for example good ol Pres Bush. He took a strong and strict stance against the Chinese government. When the leader of the free world is out to get a world power, you can bet the COTL will be right behind him.
The new summer movie �Pearl Harbor� is coming out soon, and this is bound to open old wounds between the COTL and the Asians. Think of it, this is a high budget historical action drama that classifies the �beast from the east� enemies as Darth Vader from above. So the relationship is obviously strained between the two groups. How do we fix it?
A person once said, �The only way to fight fire is with fire.� The person who said that died in a fire so what did he know? Yet in the way we can apply it the situation at hand. How can we defeat the pop cinema and media that unintentionally make the Asians look bad. Well movies for one can be a great asset. Rush Hour 2 can really get us out of this bind with its funny dialogue and clever action scenes. Why I can just hear the COTL say, �Boy the Jackie boy sure knows how to flip. Them Orientals can move.� (Forgive them they don�t know how to be PC�it�s just their way.) Hopefully with the fine cinema that the Asian culture produces, maybe the COTL and the Asian can live in harmony. Hell I�m sure they really enjoy all the Asian porn so at least we have something on our side. |
