The name "Clyde" was adopted at a meeting held in January, 1867. The new town had been known in earlier times as "Elk Creek", "Eaton City", "Hamilton", and "BonerViller." The first Watermelon Festival was held in 1899, and is still celebrated as an annual event in Clyde. Making this town the biggest venue for losers in the United States.
Stay tuned for more startling revelations of the town I was named after. |
