I've just stumbled across your web-site. I'll guess that you're a fan of the original Rogue Trader then. Have you seen the 3rd edition yet? If you preferred the first 40K to the boxed edition then I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. We've really gone back to our roots with the new game (dark, brooding, gothic style) while at the same time streamlining the game rules so that it's a proper battle system rather than a skirmish game.

Anyway back to your site. We don't object to you posting up the Rogue Trader rules (though we'd prefer it if you asked us next time) for you and others who are still interested in the old WH40K to play. However, we would ask you that:

(i) you include an appropriate legal statement on your home page (I know you have copied out the legal blurb from the original book but you really need something similar on your home page so that people can see it from the onset. Please see our IP policy on our web-site [www.games-workshop.com] if you are unsure on what needs to go in this statement) and;

(ii) you don't include pictures from the old rulebook on your site. Aside from the legal issues our licensees, such as EA, Mindscape, etc have paid considerable amounts of money for the rights to use our extensive library of WH40K artwork for computer games and on-line and so it's unfair for us to give people permission to make use of this artwork for free on the net. However, if you want to brighten up your site with photos of painted soldiers (whether you take them from the RT book or White Dwarf) that's fine.

If you've got any questions about the above then please feel free to mail me back.

Intellectual Property

After a series of e-mails in which Max and I, exchanged views on different topics (including the newest range of plastics), We came to the conclution that the following things needed to be changed:
1. The name og the site should not give the impression that the site was 'official' (ie. it should be clear to visitiors that the site was unofficial).
2. Certain reproductions of artwork (not logos) should be removed.
And that was pretty much it, as I recal it.
