| Sunday November 23rd Prime Time Players 2:30pm--- #2 I. H. M. 14 #6 St. John 27 Butch ....Press....Press...Butch....those two words will never be seperated. If he could he would press your guys getting out of their cars before the game. Solid team play during the game. When the pressure came Weglicki took over the controls. Ignas & Mullan(5pts. in 4th) were also big down the stretch. For I.H.M.- Brian Cencro(we think that's his name) lead the come back with 6pts. Big Matt, not his best offensive game but was a presence on the defensive end. 3:30pm--- O. M. C. 28 Holy Family 24 For O.M.C.- First game back for Shawn Caldwell, making an early statement with a huge game. It's a good thing we don't keep all stats because the book guy would have charged a large fee. This cool vet in his return to Region 5 posted quality numbers in every category (5pts., & at least 7asts. 10boards 2blocks 3steals). Made his team look like a legitimate top seven. Regan (we'll get his first name) benefited most with 15pts. (10 by half). Caldwell and Regan could be the best guard combo in the league! This is a scary team when they get everyone there for a game.... take them lightly and they might hurt your feelings. For H.Family-C. McNichol (we think that's his name) lead a strong come back with 9pts. 4:30pm--- #4 St. Raymond 27 St. Therese 13 Speaking of returns, St. Rays welcomed back their lead guy Rodney 'R.J.' Handy Jr. from football. A QB on the field as well as the last 3 seasons in Region 5, tried to brush the dust and cobwebs off his basketball game. Leading an aggressive attack with a double-double (13pts. 15rebs.) 4dimes and 4steals. With an added 6 inches from last season, he's like Tim Duncan (guaranteed an double-double when he steps on the floor). Missed 7fts. and a few gimmie baskets(should of had 20pts.). 'J.B'-Johnny 'ACE' Barnes with another solid PG/SG performace with 6pts., 5asts., 5stls, (possibly the leading rebounder for guards under 5'-3") 5rebs. and floor general field work. For St. Therese- I love the big fella .... Andrew Grant, might of picked up the first double-double without scoring 10 points(6pts. 14rebs. and at least 8blks.). The human eraser kept 'R.J.' from a 20-20 game. This guy reminds me of Chaz Crawford one of the greatest shotblockers ever in Phila. H.S. basketball(record for most blks. in the P. L. chip '02). Over the summer he must work on his offensive game, so he's ready for H.S. 5:30pm--- St. Martin 19 St. Helena 38 For St. Helena- The A.I. of Region 5 and leading scorer Jordan Green....(must be in that first name), lead all scorers with 15pts. To go along with 8 ribbies and at least 7 dimes, the little guy would finish high on the M.V.P. balloting if the season ended this week. He plays the game at times so smoooth..... I tend to think he's uninterested. T. Adkins & T. Riley chipped in with 11 & 8. For St. Martin- M. Kanell continues to impress with possibly his first double-double 12pts., 10rebs. Leon you gotta draw some 'O' up for this cat....... heck keep the ball in his hands. Must improve from the line (4 for 9). |
