| A look into last week's top players | ||||||||||
| NOTE: Forgive us for not providing first names but it's early in the season and our coaches only provide last names in the book. | ||||||||||
| 8:30am--- St. John 25 St. Helena 24 For the losing team we have Jordan Green with a solid 12 point preformance. It seemed like everytime he put one up it looked good. Had some good looks at the basket in the final minutes. For St. John we have Dudek( at least I think that's how you spell his name, no one can read Butch's writing) with 12 pts. also. This guy has picked off where Weglicki left off last season. This guy is lethal on the wing and will knock'em down. Speaking of Weglicki, he couldn't be excluded with his last second drive to the rack, picking up the foul and nailing one of two for the game winner. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9:30am--- St. Benedict 40 O. L. O. H. 14 For the winners we have Parrish Grant- with 14pts., a few reb. and (coaches count) 7ast. One of the things that stood out was his leadership ability. Also we have Braheem Carrol- with 15pts.to lead all scorers, a ton of boards and he just controlled the middle. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10:30am--- O. M. C. 24 Holy Cross 29 For O.M.C. we have Jeremiah Laster- who did it all for his team with 14 pts., lost count of the rebounds and played soild defense. When they get Shawn back, he should ease the load. For H. C. we both agreed at the table that Linbergh Green was a standout. With 12pts. a couple assist, floor general responsibilities and at least 5 steals, this guy needed a nap after the game. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11:30am--- Saints 2 St. Therese 0 The Saints team for showing up! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12:30pm--- St. As 19 St. Bridget 23 For St. A's - 'C. Dub'- Charles Walden- This guy also entered the 'I need a nap after the game club'. With 8pts., a few boards & assist.... but like we said in the PreSeason scouting report, it's his defense. For St. Bridget as usual you would have to credit the whole team, that I'm sure Coach Phil did but one guy that we have to mention is the glass cleaner Juan Gaskins. This guy battled three guys on the window and still managed to reach double digits. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1:30pm--- I. H. M. 25 Holy Family 19 With balance scoring from H. F. no one really stood out. From I.H.M.- Matt Hodges- provided the scoring with 15pts., producing a possible double-double with the glass work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2:30pm--- St. Martin 15 St. Raymond 21 No ind. stats in this game (we'll work on the book guy) but four guys did standout. For St. Martin- M. Cadell at times looked like another guy that wore #23. Also you can't mention St. Martin without mentioning Sheed, this little guy runs his team and is so far advanced, keeping his team in the game til the very end. For St. Rays- 'T.J'- Thomas Harris- provided his guys with a solid double-double. To counteract Sheed was Johnny "J.B.' Barnes, possibly the second smallest guy on the floor at times seemed like the tallest with some impressive rebounds. Being double teamed at times seemed to always find a way out. This three year vet is always cool (sometimes too cool!) directed his team to the 'W'. |
