| #145- Everest Adventure! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Written by: A.C Montgomery. Illustrated by: Ron Wing Well-written, interesting book, despite the silly title. I came out of it having learned something about Mt. Everest and climbing, and the Chinese/Tibetan tension serves as an effective modern background to the events. The choices given are well chosen too, and I found myself giving them more thought then perhaps I normally would Good start for A.C. |

| #146- Soccer Star | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Written by: Edward Packard. Illustrated by: Tom La Padula There's a nice bit of innovation by Eddie P here! You're at some wacky summer camp listening to some teacher ramble on, and instead of usual 'turn to...' options at the end of the page, you get the option of leaving the lecture by turning to a certain page as soon as you lose interest! Unfortunatly I lost interest in the rest of the book, which occasionally involved you playing soccer; so I took the option of turning to the TV and watching the cricket instead... |

| #154- Cyberspace Warrior | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Written by: Edward Packard. Illustrated by: June Brigman Packard takes the challenge to a new level here, as i discovered. I ran into my first 'The End' page as just my first choice, and the next four choices all lead me straight to dead-ends too! In regards to the story, the idea of a game within a game within a game is an interesting (and often eerie) one, and 'Cyberspace Warrior' is at it's best when juxstaposing what's happening in the game, with the everyday stuff happening at home, whether it be mum (or 'mom') wanting you to come with her to the Mall, or your bland friends looking over your shoulder to see what you're getting up to. Later on, the story unfortunatly becomes little more then your space-hero quest, and we discover little about the actual console, or it's mysterious inventor Uncle Horatio. In fact, it's not even possible to actually beat the game, and there's no congratulatory pat-on-the-back page, neither in 'real life' or within the syberspace game itself, which leaves an enjoyable title in the series a little unsatisfying. |
