Names!
We have started Getting to Know You.  During round 1, the student perfroms his/her name cheer, completes the interview and I write their name on our word wall.
During Literacy Centers students picked names out of a basket and stamped their friends names.
We wrote our friends names in pretty colors!
We read Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes.  Then we counted the letters in our name and completed this graph.
Name Game

Students names are written on small paper plates.  We toss the plates on the floor and sing:
(to the tune of
If You're Happy and You Know It)
If you're name is on the plate pick it up.
If you're name is on the plate pick it up.
If you're name is on the plate, then you're doing really great,
If you're name is on the plate pick it up.

Name Cup

Each child has a popsicle stick with his/her name on it.  All sticks are placed in our Name Cup.  When we are lining up or going back to our seats, I pull a stick out of the cup.  When the child sees his/her name, they are permitted to get up.  Students must pay attention for this game!
We created rainbow names!  Students traced their names with several colors.
