It is very important for a child to know that his/her parents support their education. As such, I will try to provide many opportunities for parents to volunteer and visit our classroom. Please, be sure to fill out and turn in the parent volunteer background check at Readifest. If you do not have an approved background check, you will not be permitted to work in the classroom. You may want grandparents to fill out a form also! Some volunteering may include:
Classroom Helpers - This usually involoves working with small groups of children to complete projects or assist with writing. This may also consist of assisting with teacher duties.
Guest Reader - Some Friday afternoons we will host a guest reader time. During this time, parents, grandparents or community helpers are asked to read several of their favorite children's books to the class.
Helping at Parties - The room parents may contact you to come in or contribute to out class parties and/or celebrations. Let me know if you're interested in being a Room Parent!
Field Trips - Parents will be asked to attend several (2 or 3) field trips this year. Some trips are limited...so be sure to sign up as soon as the notes come home. Only approved chaperones may ride the bus!
Helping at Home - If you are not able to come to in and volunteer, you may choose to hlep out with preparation of materials at home. Also, remember that reading at night, playing games in the car and spending time together is the best kind of involvement a child could receive! Encourage your child to do his/her best in all they try to do.
PTA - Please join PTA and attend monthly meetings. You will receive more information as school begins.

Sending in Things - A great way to help out the teacher is by sending in things that are needed. I ask that parents supply snacks for the class during our afternoon time. We also do lots of cooking and creating that I will need your assistance with...just look for notes in our weekly newsletters or in your child's folder.
