================

Jim stood on the balcony of the loft looking out over the city. The sun was slowly setting giving the city a surreal look. It was that moment where it was just light enough to see without light, but dark enough that it blanket the city in gray. Blair wasn't home from the University yet and Jim was glad. It gave him a chance to think.

After everything that had happened over the past few years that they had been working together, Jim hadn't really stopped to think about how his life had changed. It seemed as if everyone was commenting on how different he was, but in fact he had never noticed. He didn't remember when the loft had turned from a place to sleep to a place that was filled with laughter and happiness. It was now a place that he wanted to spend his time.

Just last night the guys had been over to watch the game and for once Jim had taken a look around. He had friends now that he counted as friends, not acquaintances. These were people that he had gotten to know and enjoyed spending time with. Even now he was getting to know his father and brother better. Had someone told him five years ago that he would have been looking
forward to spending a weekend fishing with his father, he would have laughed in their face. But he was looking forward to the fishing trip this weekend. For once he was looking forward to getting away from work and relax.

People said that he changed with the introduction of Blair into his life and Jim had to agree. His Guide had turned his life upside down and for once the pieces had fallen into order. He now longer felt as if he was searching for his place and meaning.

When Caroyln had left, she had firmly started that he was going to grow old and die alone. She had been mad at the time, but Jim could now see that she was right. Had Blair not come into his life, that's probably were he would have ended up.

He smiled as the last few rays of daylight disappeared and at the same time he heard Blair's car pull up to the front of the loft. He didn't want Blair to catch him out here starring out into space. The kid would probably think he had zoned and Jim would spend the rest of the night convincing Blair that he hadn't. Before he went in though, he sent up a silent prayer to whatever force was watching over them, to keep them save. He wasn't ready to loss Blair or to find himself six feet under. Nope he had too much to do now and
a best friend to do it with.

The End
