=====================

Naomi sat back and looked out the windows of the plane. She was returning to a retreat in Africa after visiting her injured son. She didn't stay long because he didn't seem to need her. Oh, Blair had always been independent, but now it felt as if Jim had filled a gab in Blair's life and more. For once Blair had someone that was always going to be there, instead of running all over the world.

When she had first meet Jim, she figured that this would last a few months. After all, Blair was like her. He loved to travel and see the world. Then she had learned that Blair had turned down four expeditions since meeting Jim. Jim only knew about one of the offers and seemed pleased that Blair had stayed.

When she realized that Blair wasn't going to leave on his own, she made offers to Blair to come join her. Before meeting up with Ellison, he couldn't wait to spend time with her. Now it's "Jim needs..." "I can't leave because..." "I have responsibilities that..." She left like when she wasn't looking, that her son had been taken away from her. She had in fact be replaced.

Now Naomi wouldn't have had a problem with this if it had been some nice girl that Blair wanted to start a family with. But no it was a cop of all things. She thought she had done her best in teaching Blair that cops were no good. Now instead of hating the pigs, he was becoming one.

In a last ditched attempt to get her son back, Naomi realized that the reason Blair was still with Jim was because of his dissertation. So she sent the finished manuscript to a friend of hers. Then the world fell into her son's lap. She could feel her heavy heart lift as she knew Blair would be her's once more. However all good plans fail and Blair gave up everything for Jim. Even then she felt that Blair would leave this mess behind.

She went along with giving Blair the option of becoming a cop because she knew Blair wouldn't go through with it. Again she was wrong and decided to confront her son with an alternative choice.

"Blair, where's Jim?" Naomi asked her son.

"He's at the station filling out some paper work. He'll be back in about a hour. Why?" Blair didn't even look up at her while talking. Instead he was concentrating on filling out the application for the police academy.

"I know that you don't really want to become a cop. You're just doing this to appease Ellison and Banks." Naomi sat down next to her son and smiled as he looked up at her. "I know all about everything that has happened to you since joining up with Detective Ellison. I also know that you would be much happier with me."

"Look Naomi this is were my life is and I'm not ready to leave it. Jim is my best friend and I can't just abandon him."

"Abandon him, sweetie. He's the one that abandoned you. "Naomi stood up and walked to the balcony doors. "He left you to die once before and he'll do it again."

"Mom... That's not what happened. Both me and Jim have made mistakes in our lives and have paid for them. However the past is just that and I know that I'll be happy with my future."

"Happy!" Naomi exclaimed. "How can you be happy when everyone hates you and thinks your a fraud."

"The people that count know the truth and that's all I need. Look I'm happy here and that's that."

Naomi knew her offer had been dismissed and that there would be no further conversation on this subject. Blair could be pretty stubborn when he wanted to. So she had left the next morning without a word. Six months later Banks had gotten a hold of her, telling her that both Jim and Blair had been hurt. She left right away, but had found that she wasn't needed. Now she was
leaving again, but she was starting to understand why her son stayed. Jim and the Major Crimes crew had provided the one thing that Naomi had never been able to. A stable home.
