A little boy walked into the house and looked around for a moment
before heading towards the kitchen where he heard gentle singing coming from. Standing in the kitchen cooking something was Sally, their housekeeper. She looked up when he walked into the room with a warm smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes."What can I do for you Jimmy," Sally asked the small boy in front of her.
"I brought you this," the boy said holding out a small flower. He watched her take it from him and smile before walking over and putting into a glass of water that was sitting on the counter. Then she turned back to him and gave him a huge hug.
"Thank you Jimmy, but what was that for?" she asked.
"Our teacher said that on Mother's Day you give your mother something to say how much you lover her. I know you are not my mother, but you help take care of us, so I wanted to tell you how much I love you and like you taking care of us." Jim smiled thinking how smart he was until he saw Sally start to cry. "I'm sorry," he muttered before turning around and walking away.
He thought it was a great idea, but it looked as if it wasn't.
"No Jimmy its okay," Sally reached out and turned the boy around before wrapping him up in her arms for a big hug. "No one has every done something like that for me before," she said still crying softly. "Thank you for it and I hope that I will always be there, to help take care of you. You are not my real son, but at times I would like to think that you are my son in heart."
Jimmy smiled and hugged her back with all his heart. "You will always be there and I promise that every Mother's Day I will bring you a flower to say thank you." With one last hug he let go and ran out of the kitchen and back outside with a lighter heart and soul.
