DEBT GETTING YOU DOWN?
GET IT SORTED!
Antonia Dunn, Welsh Conservative Candidate for Cynon Valley, accompanied Nick Bourne, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the National Assembly, to the Citizens Advice Bureaus Get It Sorted project in Mountain Ash as part of his General Election campaign tour.

The project, which is backed by the National Assembly, is an early intervention initiative to prevent people from getting into debt.

Nick Bourne said: I fully support this worthwhile project  aimed at spotting the early signs of debt problems among people living in this deprived community.
Antonia Dunn added: Rhondda Cynon Taff has twenty-one of the most deprived wards in Wales and seven of these are in Cynon Valley alone. The early indentifiers, such as health visitors and housing officers, play a key role in identifying individuals whose change of financial circumstance, often through no fault of their own, causes their debt to spiral out of control.

The Manager of the CAB, Margaret Sheppard, said Key trigger situations are typically when somebody loses their job, loses their benefits or has a baby.
Our project workers are trained to be understanding and provide immediate advice in crisis situations as well as long-term money management.

Dedicated Project workers, Karen Bradwick and Jeffrey Barnard, stressed:

We would encourage anyone experiencing problems with debt to contact us immediately on 01443 475948.

As outreach workers we are happy to see people at their own homes as well as at our office in Mountain Ash.
